Nicholas Kuiper, D.O.

Dr. Kuiper joined Surgical Associates, LLP in July 2010. As a general surgeon, Dr. Kuiper provides expert surgical care for a broad range of bariatric and general surgical problems. He is well-trained in all types of laparoscopic minimally invasive procedures including: DaVinci Robotic Surgery, SILS (single incision laparoscopic surgery) procedures, colon resections, Nissen fundoplications, and all types of hernia repairs. He does advanced laparoscopic procedures for morbid obesity including sleeve gastrectomies, gastric bypasses, and adjustable lap-bands. Dr. Kuiper has a special interest in breast cancer surgery and performs advanced techniques for office-based minimally invasive breast procedures as well as the most advanced operating room procedures for the treatment of benign and malignant breast disease. These techniques include: Mammosite catheter placement for localized radiation therapy, ultrasound guided breat biopsies, sentinel lymph node biopsies, mastectomies, lumpectomies, skin sparing procedures, and breast conservation therapy. He also provides expert surgical care in trauma and traumatic injuries. In addition, Dr. Kuiper performs standard general surgical and ob/gyn procedures including GI endoscopy, carpal tunnel release, cholecystectomies, open hernia repairs, cesarean deliveries, hysterectomies, tubal ligations, thyroidectomies, and parathyroidectomies.

Dr. Kuiper is a native Iowan who grew up in Sheldon, Iowa and went on to receive all of his degrees in Iowa, including his medical degree from Des Moines University.
